Play Therapy for schools

*1:1 Play therapy sessions lasting 40 minutes, on a weekly basis.

*A minimum of 12 sessions is required in order for the child to build a relationship with me, relax and begin to trust the process.

*A dedicated, consistent, private room to be available at the same day and time each week is essential to provide consistency for the child.

*Reviews are held after 7 weeks in consultation with school staff.

* Group sessions are also available for a maximum of 4 children with similar presenting issues. These may include young carers, self esteem, divorce and separation, peer relationships, anxiety, transitions and siblings with AEN are a few examples.

*Group sessions are between 6 and 10 weeks long, for an hour each week.

* A dedicated, consistent, private room also needs to be available to hold these sessions.

*Half day (2 or 3 children) and Full day (5 children) sessions are available for schools.

*Private therapy sessions are also available at a child's school, dependent on school approval and a school's ability to meet the room requirements.

Other requirements:

*Time allowed to liaise with staff to discuss referrals.

*Parental contact in order to gain a wider picture of the child.

*Play therapy is confidential and disclosure of events in the session will only be given if it is a safeguarding matter, the schools policy will be followed in that instance.

Further information:

*Parental support is given throughout the child's time in therapy.

*A written report is available at the end of therapy.

*Staff support given where necessary.
